WILA-AG135 CNC Tool Grinding Machine

Categories: Blade Sharpening Machines

Brands: WILAMAC

The WILA-AG135 is an enclosed CNC tool grinding machine with a 135mm grinding wheel and a variable spindle speed from 2600 to 6000 rpm. It is built to re-sharpen press and punching tooling on site: instead of shipping dulled punches and dies out and waiting for them to come back, the tooling goes off the machine, onto the grinder and back into service the same day. That matters most for shops where a worn punch stops a press. The enclosure keeps grinding dust away from the ways and the operator, and the variable speed lets you match the wheel to the tooling material rather than running one speed for everything. Tell us the tooling you sharpen, the material it is made from and the tolerance you need to hold, and we will confirm the wheel specification and the fixture arrangement before quoting.

Sharpening Tooling In-House, On Your Own Schedule

Press tooling is a consumable whether you treat it as one or not. Punches and dies dull, edges round over, and the bend quality drifts before anyone notices the tooling is the reason.

The usual answer is to send tooling out for regrinding. That costs a lead time you cannot control, and it puts a dependency on someone else’s queue at exactly the moment a press has stopped. An in-house grinder removes both: the tooling comes off the machine, gets sharpened to the angle you specify, and goes back into service.

What makes this machine usable for that job rather than a bench grinder is the combination of a CNC-controlled feed, an enclosed working area and a variable spindle speed. The variable speed is the practical part — different tooling steels and different wheel grades want different surface speeds, and a single-speed machine forces you to compromise on one of them. Running slow on hard tooling and faster on softer material is how you keep the edge geometry intact instead of burning it.

Specifying a Tool Grinding Machine

The machine has to be matched to the tooling you actually sharpen, not to a general idea of grinding. Wheel diameter and spindle speed set the surface speed, and that decides whether the wheel cuts cleanly or burns the edge.

What to send us:

  • The tooling you sharpen, and the tool steel it is made from
  • Tooling sizes, and whether you sharpen flat tooling, cylindrical parts, or both
  • Edge angle and tolerance you need to hold after grinding
  • How often you sharpen, so the machine is sized to your volume rather than to a catalogue
  • Whether you need custom fixtures, and what you use today
  • Voltage and phase at your site

Send us those and we will confirm the wheel specification, the fixtures and the control configuration before quoting.
