What a Quick Release Press Brake Clamp Does
A quick release clamp is what holds the punch in the press brake’s upper beam. Instead of a row of bolts that have to be tightened and slackened along the whole tool, each clamp has a lever: lift it, slide the punch into position, push the lever back down and the tool is locked.
On a machine running short batches that matters more than it sounds. Every tool change on a bolted beam costs the operator time at the machine, and time at the machine is throughput you do not get back. A quick release system turns a tool change into a one-hand operation, and it repeats the clamping force consistently, so the punch seats the same way every time.
We machine the clamp body from steel with a hardened clamping face and a lever assembly that can be replaced. The body bolts to the beam through the mounting holes, and the jaw is machined to suit the tooling profile it has to hold — a Wila type, Promecam or Amada style punch each needs a different jaw.
Choosing the Right Clamp for Your Tooling System
Start with the tooling system, not the machine. The clamp has to match the punch shank it grips: Wila type, Promecam and Amada tooling use different shank profiles, and a clamp machined for one will not seat correctly on another.
Then confirm how the clamp bolts to your beam. A photo with a ruler laid across the mounting holes is enough for us to work from, together with the beam face width. Tell us as well whether the clamp has to work with a hydraulic clamping system or a manual lever.
